Joyce Bennett, a remarkable missionary, teacher, educator, legislator and above all a pastor and priest won the love and respect of Hong Kong people and the Anglican Church family. Her 34 years devoted to Hong Kong nurtured many young lives and mentored many clergy in their vocation. When she was appointed member of the legislative council, her first speech was fighting for the delay of the Holy Trinity Church Secondary School project by the Education Department in switching sites and location, neglecting and trespassing the good will of co-operation of the voluntary bodies. She caused many media attention and thus force the Education Director to speed up work and apologize to the School board when the School was finally opened in 1978. I was the Rector of Holy Trinity Parish and was greatly supported by Joyce. Many people and students will always remember her courage and sense of justice to fight for education and the disadvantaged people.
